Stolen Treasures: Nine Artifacts Claimed from the British Museum

The Asante (Ashanti) gold regalia—comprising crowns, jewelry, and other royal insignia—were taken during British colonial campaigns in West Africa. Ghana asserts its cultural right to these treasures, which symbolize royal authority and spiritual heritage, and has requested their return. While the British Museum acknowledges these discussions, formal restitution has not yet been realized.
