The Central Iranian Genetic Cluster
The study found that the majority of Iran’s population today belongs to a central genetic cluster—referred to as the "Iranian Central Cluster." This includes major ethnic groups such as Persians, Azeris, Kurds, Gilaks, Mazandaranis, Lors, and even Arab-speaking populations within Iran. Surprisingly, despite differences in language and cultural practices, these groups share a substantial amount of genetic similarity, indicating common ancestral roots within the Iranian Plateau.
