In 1978, as Iran approached revolution, the family became a target due to their wealth. Dara’s mother made the difficult decision to leave the country. Initially fleeing to France, they soon settled in the United States. Dara was only nine years old, unable to speak English, and had just completed second grade in Iran. The family resettled in Tarrytown, New York, bringing little more than determination and a legacy of hard work.
